Busted

I came home from work early yesterday and found Cody laying on the couch watching Oprah. I kid you not. I suppose there were a lot worse things he could have been watching. Strummer was appalled and jumped on the remote to turn it off.

One of these days I'll get back to writing about the dog training. I suppose that would entail actually getting back to dog training. I gave everybody a 2 week break and now I'm having a hard time getting back into the swing of things. I'm having a lesson with Joy this week for the first time in weeks or months or something and I'm hoping it will inspire me to get going again. Funny how easy it is to slip out of a routine.

  1. I think a break from agility training and competition is very healthy. My dogs have been competing pretty heavily and after Nationals, they'll have the entire month of December off to go on off-leash hikes, play games, and just be dogs.

  2. Yes, ahem, well, we already sort of took our break for the year, can't remember exactly when but I know we did. But I needed a break, not just from agility but from everything. I needed a couple of weeks where I didn't need to be somewhere for something at a certain time doing some kind of training that required my brain. But now I think I'm slipping into the realm of 'lazy' and I need to get back on a schedule or I'll end up on the couch next to Cody watching crappy t.v. every night.

We've always taken a month off after Nationals too. Such an intense experience, it's good to have a break afterwards.

  3. Our dogs usually watch Comedy Central when they're home along.

  4. We end up taking most of the winter off from agility as we usually have 2 feet of snow outside. If we are lucky we get to practice once a week. It doesn't do them or me any harm. I usually do a lot of obedience training. Time to work on some new tricks too :-)

  5. I seem to be on sort of a perpetual break from training. I KNOW that RIGHT NOW I need to go back to bar-knocking drills, and fer cryin' out loud weave-popping drills for Tika! but--not in the mood. You're right, once you get in the mood of not taking the time for it, it's tough to get back in the mood for taking the time and effort.
