You really can't tell from the shore how big they are, because they just vanish off to the horizon.<br /><br />Michigan is something like 12 times the size of The Great Salt Lake. It's bigger than several north-eastern states. I guess if they were named "Sea" then it wouldn't be surprising that they're so big, but they're fresh water.
